Tips
Tips for reliable WiFi QR codes
Use WPA/WPA2 encryption
Almost all modern routers use WPA2. Only choose WEP if your router is very old, or None for a completely open network.
Set error correction to Max for print
For wall signs or table cards, Max (H) error correction ensures the code still scans even if it gets slightly damaged or dirty.
Test before printing in bulk
Scan with both an iPhone and Android camera before laminating or printing multiple copies. The built-in camera app should auto-connect.
Print at least 3×3 in for wall signs
A sign smaller than three inches makes the code hard to scan from normal standing distance. Go larger if the sign will be on a wall.
Reprint when the password changes
Since the password is encoded directly in the QR image, a password change means the old code stops working — you will need a new code and a reprint.
Laminate for durability
A laminated sign lasts years. Avoid high-gloss lamination in bright-light areas — the glare can make it harder to scan.
FAQ
WiFi QR code questions
Yes. The iPhone camera app has supported WiFi QR codes since iOS 11. Android camera apps added native support around Android 10. Most modern smartphones scan them without needing any special app.
Your password is processed entirely in your browser using an open-source library. It is never sent to qrfox or any third party. The password is embedded in the downloaded QR image — keep the image file private if the network is sensitive.
Select WPA/WPA2 for almost any modern router. Choose WEP only if your router is very old and does not support WPA. Select None only for completely open networks that require no password.
Since the password is encoded directly in the QR image, changing your password means the old code no longer works. You will need to create a new QR code and reprint your sign.
Support for hidden SSIDs varies by device. Android phones generally handle them well; iPhone support is more limited. For best compatibility, use a visible (non-hidden) SSID for your guest network.
Yes. Set the Security option to None, leave the password field blank, and only fill in the network name. The QR code will connect guests directly to the open network.
